BUTLER NURSERY SCHOOL- Early (priority) enrollment for church members and Butler families begins Nov. 1. Please call Dee Hyde at 779 -7449 for an application. If your child will be 2 years old by Dec. 1, 2009 or 3 or 4 by Dec. 31, 2009 , you need to apply during the early enrollment period as our classes fill up fast! If you are a member of St. John's, your application fee is waived and you get a 10% discount on tuition.

It is our custom to remember in the prayers of the people on the Sunday after the Feast of All Saints' anyone who has died (especially those who have died since last All Saints' Day) If you would like a loved one remembered in those prayers please return the form below to the parish office by October 24. Bishop's Visitation and Confirmation

On Sunday, Oct. 12, the Rt. Rev. Mark S. Sisk will be at St. John's as Celebrant and Preacher and for Confirmation. Bishop Sisk is our diocesan bishop and gets to most parishes once every six years. We are pleased to welcome him and to rejoice with Joseph Rea, Jacqueline Seltzer, and Alondra Vega who are being confirmed, and Barbara Bayer-Mertens who is being received into the Episcopal Church. Please be with us on this happy occasion! All are invited to a luncheon in the parish hall afterwards being provided by Joy Favazza-Rea.

The Harvest Fair

Our annual parish fair is Sat. Nov. 8 from 10 AM - 3 PM. Eileen Spencer is chairing the Fair but we need your help ! Here's what you can do to make our fair a day of fun, outreach, fundraising and a success.

1) Sign up to volunteer for all or part of the day. We need people at our church tables, for security and other roles. Sign up sheet is available at the back of the church and at coffee hour or you can call the parish office at 779-7024 or email theparishoffice@aol.com

2) Take out an ad in our Fair Journal. The cost is $15 for a 1/4 page, $25 for a half or $40 for a full. You can send greetings, advertise a business, honor/thank someone or share your wisdom. Boosters are $5 each and your name appears in the Journal. Checks may be made payable to St. John's Church with Fair Journal in the memo, accompanied by your text.

3) If you know anyone who sells products at fairs we still have vendor tables available downstairs !

4) Invite your friends and neighbors, hang a flyer, spread the word !

July & August 2008 Calendar

 

Parish Hall and Office are closed and all staff are off on Friday, July 4 for Independence Day.

Sunday Services are at 9 AM in the summer until Sept. 21. Refreshments follow downstairs in the lower parish hall.

OFFICE HOURS: Mon.-Thursday 10 AM - 2 PM.

Vacation: Mo. Susanna’s vacation is from July 4 to July 31. If you have a pastoral emergency during that period, please call the office during office hours, or Mo. Susanna's cell phone at other times.

Looking Ahead

Parish Hall closed and all staff off for Labor Day on Monday, Sept.1.

Ann Patton Sat. 9/13 at 6 PM The parish will celebrate 20 years of Ms. Patton's ministry at St. John's with a festive pot luck. Mark the date !

Green Day Sat. 9/20 10 AM - 3 PM : Our 2nd Annual Event of respecting and appreciating the earth. Children's activities, education, inspiration, vendors of green products, green organizations, etc. ! Please mark the date. We need volunteers! See Annette Clark for more information.

We return to the Sunday two service schedule on 9/21.

INTERNATIONAL POT LUCK DINNER: A Fellowship Event

Sat. May 31 at 6 PM we are having a Pot Luck International Dinner. We hope you will come and bring family, friends or a neighbor, as well as an ethnic dish or dessert (yours or somebody else's) and we'd love to have the recipe for a follow up cook book! Whether it is your grandfather's specialty from the old country or your mother's favorite dish from the islands or your own recipe for something exotic- we want to taste it ! Global music and atmosphere will add to the fun as well as a great door prize. All free of charge! RSVP by signing up in back of church. A great event for children to learn about other food from other nations!

PARISH "FUN" DAY: also known as Parish Work Day

Sat. May 17 + 9 AM - 1 PM:

"Painting and Planting"

This year, because we have a landscaping service, we can turn our attention to painting the door of the Red Door and the door of the church, and planting flowers and summer bulbs on the grounds. Please join us for this enjoyable "work"! Sign up sheet is in back of church.
